This coin flip gives you heads or tails with one tap. The coin spins in the air, lands, and shows the result. A running tally keeps count of how many heads and tails you have flipped so far, which settles any argument about best two out of three.
A coin toss is the oldest quick tiebreaker there is. Use it to pick who goes first, which of two restaurants to try, or which side of the field a team takes. You do not need a coin in your pocket, and the result cannot be tossed with a practiced thumb.
How to flip
- Tap Flip to toss one coin and watch it land.
- Check the tally to see heads and tails so far.
- To flip many coins at once, set a number up to 100 and flip. You get the count of heads and tails.
- Reset the tally whenever you want to start fresh.
Is it 50/50?
Yes. Each flip uses a random number from your browser's crypto.getRandomValues, and heads and tails are equally likely. The animation plays after the result is set, so it is only there for fun.
Short runs can look lopsided. Flip ten coins and you might see seven heads. That is normal. Flip 100 at a time a few times and the counts tend to settle near half and half, which makes the multi-flip a nice way to show probability in class.
When a coin is not enough
A coin only handles two options. For more, switch tools.
- Want a third choice? The yes no maybe wheel adds one.
- For a simple yes or no on a wheel, try the yes or no wheel.
- Choosing between several people? Use the random name picker.
Frequently asked questions
Is the online coin flip fair?
Yes. Heads and tails each have a 50 percent chance on every flip. The result comes from your browser's crypto random number source and is decided before the coin animation plays, so nothing about how you tap can change it.
Can I flip more than one coin?
Yes. You can flip up to 100 coins at once. Instead of showing 100 animations, the tool gives you the number of heads and tails in that batch, and adds them to the tally.
Why did I get heads five times in a row?
Streaks happen with real coins too. Each flip is independent, so the coin has no memory of the last result. Five heads in a row comes up about once in every 32 tries of five flips.
Does the tally save between visits?
The tally counts your flips during the current visit and stays in your browser. It is not uploaded anywhere. You can reset it at any time to start a new count.
