A rabbit race is a random name picker set in a spring meadow. Every name becomes a bunny wearing a coloured bib with its own little icon on the front, lined up in its own lane among the flowers. After the countdown the rabbits bound forward in big hops over a 100-metre course. One pulls ahead, another catches up with a couple of long leaps, and the first bunny over the line takes the win.
Bunnies are a gentle choice for younger groups, an Easter party or a spring fair at school. Up to 60 rabbits can race. Each one keeps the same icon on its bib every time you race with that name, so children quickly learn to spot their own bunny in the pack.
How to run a rabbit race
- Type or paste the names, one per line. Each line is one bunny in its own lane.
- Want a certain icon on someone's bib? Start the line with an emoji, such as "🥕 Leo" or "🌷 Ava".
- Pick a race length: Short is about 10 seconds, Normal about 20, Long about 35 and Epic about a minute.
- Press Start race and follow the leading bunny across the meadow. When all have finished, check the podium and the full order.
Is the rabbit race fair?
Yes. When you press Start, the page shuffles the names with your browser's crypto.getRandomValues, so every possible finishing order has the same chance. That shuffle is the result. Each rabbit then gets its own rhythm of long bounds and short pauses, timed so it lands across the line at its assigned moment.
A bunny that takes a huge leap early on is not ahead in any way that counts. Bib colour and icon are decoration, and nothing you do during the race changes the outcome. Your list stays in your browser and is never uploaded.
Ideas for rabbit races
- Choose who finds the first clue in an Easter egg hunt.
- Pick the order for show and tell, with Remove winner on so each child gets one turn.
- Draw a small prize at a spring fair or a garden party.
- Let each child pick an emoji for their bunny's bib before the race starts.
Frequently asked questions
How does each rabbit get its icon?
Every racer gets an emoji icon that stays the same for the same name, so a bunny looks the same race after race. To choose one yourself, put an emoji at the start of the line, for example "🐰 Sam". The icon shows on the bib.
How many rabbits can race at once?
Up to 60, each in its own lane. With a long list the bunnies and name tags get smaller. For a big class, run a few heats of 10 to 15 and finish with a final for the heat winners.
Does a bigger hop mean a faster rabbit?
No. The hops are animation. The finishing order is drawn when you press Start, and each rabbit's bounds and pauses are tuned to match it, so the size of a leap says nothing about who wins.
Can the same bunny win twice?
Yes, because each race is a fresh draw. If every name should win only once, tick Remove winner after race and the winner leaves the list before the next race.
