Dice Roller

Choose your die type and how many to roll, then tap Roll. You see every die, the total, and your past rolls.

Press roll

This dice roller stands in for a handful of real dice. Pick a die type, from a four-sided d4 up to a twenty-sided d20, choose how many dice to throw at once (one to ten), and press Roll. Each die shows its own number, and the total is added up for you.

It is handy when the dice have gone missing from a board game box, when you are playing a tabletop RPG over video chat, or when a classroom needs dice for a math activity. Nothing to buy, nothing rolling off the table and under the couch.

    How to roll

    Which die to use

The d6 is the classic cube used in most family board games, often rolled in pairs. Role-playing games use the full set: a d20 for attacks and checks, and d4 through d12 for damage and other effects. A d10 is also useful for picking a digit from 1 to 10.

Each roll uses random numbers from your browser's crypto.getRandomValues, and every face on a die has the same chance. Two dice added together are not flat, though. With 2d6, a total of 7 comes up far more often than 2 or 12, just like with real dice.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are the rolls fair?

Yes. Each die uses a random number from your browser's crypto.getRandomValues, and every face has an equal chance. Past rolls have no effect on the next one, so a run of low numbers does not make a high number more likely.

How many dice can I roll at once?

You can roll from one to ten dice in a single roll. All dice in one roll are the same type. To mix types, such as a d20 and a d6, roll them one after the other and use the history.

Does it show each die or only the total?

Both. Every die shows its own result, and the total of all dice is shown beside them. That way you can use the sum for a board game or read single dice for games that care about each face.

    Is my roll history saved?

The history lists the rolls from your current visit so you can look back at recent results. It lives in your browser and is not sent anywhere. Reloading or closing the page may clear it.
