How to copy Instagram comments
A computer works best. Open the post in a desktop web browser while logged in, so the comments appear in a panel next to the photo. Keep pressing the button to load more comments until no more appear, and expand reply threads if replies count as entries.
- Click at the start of the first comment, then scroll to the last one and Shift-click to select the whole comment area.
- Copy with Ctrl+C, or Cmd+C on a Mac.
- Paste into the picker. Common extras such as Reply, like counts, and short time stamps like 3d are skipped.
- Check the entry count against the comment count on the post. If it looks low, load more comments and copy again.
Copying on a phone
The Instagram app does not let you select a long block of comments, so copying from a phone is limited. You can open the post in your phone's browser and try selecting text there, but long comment lists are hard to grab in one go. For a giveaway with more than a few dozen comments, switch to a laptop or desktop.
Instagram giveaway rule tips
- State the rules in the caption: what to comment, how many friends to tag, the end date, and who is eligible.
- For a tag-two-friends rule, set the minimum @mentions to 2. The picker counts handles inside each comment.
- Turn on one entry per person so people who comment many times still get one chance.
- Add your own handle to the exclude list so your replies are not entered.
- Draw at least one alternate in case a winner does not reply to your message.

Do I need to log in with Instagram?
No. The picker has no connection to Instagram and never asks for your login. You copy the comments from your post and paste them in. The draw happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Can I paste a post link instead of the comments?
No. The tool cannot fetch comments from a link because it does not use Instagram's systems. Open the post in a desktop browser, load all comments, and copy them from the page.
How are tagged friends counted?
The username at the start of each comment is treated as the person who wrote it. Any other @handles in that comment count as mentions. Set the minimum @mentions to match your rule, such as 2 for tag two friends.
Can I pick more than one winner?
Yes. Choose how many winners and alternates you want before pressing Pick winner. They are drawn together from the eligible entries, and the same person cannot win twice when one entry per person is on.
